Relationship Goals #4 - Service (Ephesians 6:5-9)
WELCOME (15 minutes)
Ice Breaker: What is one of the most memorable jobs (paid or unpaid) you’ve ever had — and what did you learn from it?
WORSHIP (10 minutes)
Using your favorite streaming service, sing together “Goodness of God” by Bethel Music. Lyrics are on the back.
WIN (15 minutes)
- Pray for any lost people your group is reaching out to!
- The HOLIDAYS are great times to do fun group events AND use them to invite unsaved friends you are praying for.
WORD (25 minutes)
- Read Ephesians 6:5–9. What stands out to you about Paul addressing both bondservants and masters instead of just “workers and bosses”? Paul’s phrase “as you would Christ… as to the Lord” is repeated several times. Why do you think he stresses that so strongly?
- The sermon looked at Genesis 2:18 and said, “Work isn’t punishment; it’s paradise.”How does that challenge the way our culture views work?
- Think about your current roles — job, home, school, church. What would it look like to “Serve like Jesus is boss” in one of those places this week? When have you felt unseen or undervalued in your work or service? How can remembering whoyou ultimately serve re-center your heart?
- The sermon described leadership as stewardship, not superiority. Where have you been tempted to use leverage instead of love? For those in authority — parents, bosses, leaders — how can you lead in a way that reflects Jesus’ humility and fairness from verse 9?
- The towel illustration reminded us that Jesus served first. What does “picking up the towel” look like in your current relationships?
WORKS (25 minutes)
- Break up into twos and threes. Pray for each other!
- What’s one specific, concrete way you can turn your workplace, classroom, or home into “holy ground” this week?
- Pray for each other about this specifically!
