No Signal #2 - Wrong Inputs
WELCOME (15 minutes)
Ice Breaker: What’s one “small trick” you’ve pulled on your kids (or someone has pulled on you) that still makes you laugh?
WORSHIP (10 minutes)
Using your favorite streaming service, sing together, “Yet Not I But Through Christ in Me” by City Alight.
WIN (15 minutes)
- PRAY for any lost people your group is reaching out to!
- PLAN an event or get together to not only increase your community but to also give you a chance to invite the people you are praying for to come.
WORD (25 minutes)
- Read Colossians 2:8 out loud together. In your own words, what was the main point of this passage and the sermon on Sunday? Talk through the outcome, method, sources, and filter in verse 8 that we walked through on Sunday.
- Read Colossians 2:9-14. What does it say about why things need to be “according to Christ” and what it means to be a follower of Christ? Verses 11–14 lists marks of a real Christ-follower (buried/raised with Christ, forgiven, debt canceled). Which part of that list are you struggling to believeright now—and why?
- Read Colossians 2:15. Jesus disarmed rulers/authorities and triumphed over them. How does Jesus’ victory change the way you fight “wrong inputs” this week (less willpower, more worship/obedience, etc.)?
- The filter is: “If it’s not according to Christ, it’s can’t be trusted.”What’s a belief/phrase you hear a lot that might be “popular” but not “according to Christ”? The sermon mentioned that wrong inputs are often “old ideas with new packaging.” What’s one “old idea” you think culture keeps repackaging right now?
- PRACTICE the Principle (do this as a group) = Input Fast
- Identify (2 minutes):Everyone write down your top 3 inputs right now (examples: social media, news/outrage, sports, comparison, performance, comfort/escape, “therapy-talk,” politics, podcasts, anxious inner narrator, relationships, work pressure).
- Choose (30 seconds):Circle one input you will “fast” from for 7 days.
- Replace (30 seconds):Pick one “according to Christ” replacement.
WORKS (25 minutes)
- Break up into twos and threes. Pray for each other.
- Accountability (2 minutes):Share your fast & replacement with the group.
- Pray For Each Other’s Input Fasts (5 minutes)
