A New Saturday Night Experience!

Posted by New Life Church

Dear Saturday Night Celebration Attendee,

After much deliberation our elders and pastors here at New Life have made the decision to discontinue our Saturday Celebration in it’s current form. The final Saturday service in the auditorium will be held on March 9th.

However, we also want you to be aware that we plan to start an alternative worship gathering on Saturday nights beginning April 7th. During the three-week interim, we’re asking you to attend one of the Sunday Celebrations (9 or 11am). Dr. Henri Goulet will be speaking on Romans 9-11 those three Sundays.

The new worship gathering will move from the main auditorium to the Prayer Chapel and will start a little earlier, at 5pm. We’re calling it “Saturday Nights In The Chapel.” If you choose to continue attending on Saturday evenings you will hear the same speaker and sermon as will be given on Sundays. The worship segment will be quite different, at times consisting of the sharing of testimonies and on other weeks a scaled-down musical worship time. Emphasis will be placed on connecting with others, testifying of God’s goodness, learning God’s Word, and praying together for God’s power to be revealed in our families, church, and community.

The main reasons our elders and pastors decided to make this move relates to Vision and Purpose. With our Vision of spreading the Gospel through starting new campuses, we came to realize that having a Saturday Night Celebration is actually an impediment to fulfilling that because it spreads our existing resources quite thin. It also makes it very challenging to recruit new Worship Arts volunteers—which we need plenty of in order to start new campuses (a Worship Arts Team member currently gives about 12 hours between Thursday and Sunday). In addition, we came to grips with the reality that our Saturday Night Celebration is not fulfilling its original Purpose, which was to reach lost people for Christ.

So, moving the gathering into the Prayer Chapel and scaling down the musical worship has the potential to address all pertinent concerns. Our view is that “Saturday Nights In The Chapel” could become a wonderful option for those who prefer a smaller church experience. Our leadership is viewing this as an experiment, and for it to succeed it will require at least 40 people who will choose this as their preferred worship gathering each weekend AND who will make a consistent effort to serve and care for the others who choose to do the same.

If you have any questions about this, please contact Pastor Steve, Pastor Jay, or Pastor Joe at (614) 475-8500. We look forward to worshiping Jesus together in the coming months!
