World Missions
When Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit" we really take that command seriously! As a church, we know the world is a big, messy place, with needs on every corner - poverty, orphans, sickness, natual disasters - even places where the name of Jesus isn't known. Because of God's great love for us, we are compelled to go in the name of Christ to reach out in love to the nations. We do this is several ways - we support missionaries, both western and national, in countries all over the world. We also send short-term teams to many of these same places to literally be the hands and feet of Jesus.
We also work hard to champion things like freeing people from human trafficking, forced labor, and the sex trades around the world, we provide clean water to needy villages in places like Haiti, India, and Africa, we build homes for the poor in the mountains of Costa Rica, and we send medical teams into poor villages in India and Thailand. We work through the local church, where possible, and focus on church planting among least-reached people groups. We are currently forming very exciting partnerships with local churches in Costa Rica and Uganda - the Body of Christ at work around the world!
Here are some ways to get involved: the Perspectives class is offered once a year or so in the Columbus area- your heart for misisons will never be the same! Look for it! Also, read anything and everything you can get your hands on by John Piper- his heart for God's Glory is matchless and God is using him in a mighty way to spread His fame! Check out International Friendships at OSU - meeting a student from around the world, helping them with their English or just offering a welcome in a new country will opent he world up to you like nothing else. Read up on websites like The Voice of the Martyrs and International Justice Mission to see how you can pray for Christians around the world. GO- sign up for a short term mission trip and watch God change your heart before the plane lands! Amazing! God is at work among the nations - don't just watch from the sidelines - JUMP IN!
